Sterile Compounding Certification Course for Pharmacy Technicians, Abilene Texas


This practice-based, 40 contact hour, course provides pharmacy technicians with information, requirements, techniques, and practical experience needed to properly compound sterile preparations. The course abides by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy standards to certify pharmacy technicians in the safe and sterile preparation of pharmaceuticals. 
 
The Sterile Compounding Certification course consists of 14 contact hours of home study material and 26 contact hours of live programming. The home study material and videos will be available the week of February 2nd. Home study material must be completed prior to attending the live program.
(The home study program has an ACPE initial release date of July 14, 2014 and expires July 17, 2017)
 
Accessing the Home Study Program Components 
Once you register you should be directed to the program page that includes the videos and slidesets.  The videos will be posted the week of February 2nd.  If you are not automatically redirected upon registration or you need to logout for any reason, you will need to login and then go to the top gray toolbar and select "Pending Programs/CE" and then select the "Home-Study" tab and you will need to click on this course name. 
 
Tools Needed to View the Home Study Program Components 
To view this program you need an Internet Browser, Media Player, Adobe Reader, and Audio Capabilities.  If you have trouble viewing the videos, please check your firewall protection as it can interfer with the ability to view the video content.  
 
Cancellation of Program
A minimum of 15 registrations/participants are needed to hold the program. Should the minimum not be met & the program canceled, all paid registration fees (only) will be refunded.  Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Pharmacy is not responsible for travel expenses.  The decision to cancel the program will be made on February 20th.

Requirements for CE Credit

There will be only ONE exam which will be given at the live program.  The exam will cover material covered in the home study videos and at the live program, both didactically and experientially.  A passing score of at least 70% or higher is required to pass.  

All participates must score 70% or better on practical rubric to pass.

All participates must have no growth on growth media exam following a two week incubation period to pass.
 
All participates must complete the online evaluation following the videos and the evaluation provided at the live program.

Credit is uploaded to your eProfile in NABP eMonitor.
