TTUHSC - USP 797 and Basic Aseptic Technique


The goal of this program is to update pharmacists and pharmacy technicians on the current guidelines on sterile compounding, including USP 797.

Requirements for CE Credit

To receive credit you must watch the recorded webinar and complete the post-test. You must receive a minumum of 70% on the post-test at which time you will be prompted to complete a program evaluation form.

Objectives

  • Identify each area in a sterile room and classify with its ISO class in accordance to USP Chapter 797.
  • Determine a BUD based off the appropriate category of the CSP. (Use 2008 version)
  • Describe cleaning requirements and facility testing for sterile compounding.
  • Discuss the steps taken to prepare for compounding, from donning PPE to placing supplies in the hood in chronological order
  • Locate critical sites of the vial, bag, needle, and syringe
  • Describe techniques for withdrawing solutions from an ampules, vials and bags and injecting solution into vials and bags
  • Discuss positive and negative pressure, discuss the "milking method"
  • Describe workflow processes for compounding sterile preparations
